The New Home of UTCS!

A conceptual rendering of the Bill & Melinda Gates Computer Science Complex and Dell Hall

The Department of Computer Science is pleased to announce the construction of a new home for the department, which is both beautiful and functional.

The new facility, named the Bill &  Melinda Gates Computer Science Complex, will be located on central campus, adjacent to ACES, and on the footprint of Taylor Hall as well as that of a former chilling station. The Complex was made possible by significant grants from the Bill&  Melinda Gates Foundation and the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation totaling $40 million, as well as $20 million from the University of Texas System and $60 million from the University of Texas at Austin. The Complex will be completed in spring 2013. The Complex will consist of two LEED certified buildings connected by an atrium that incorporates collaborative bridges and terraces on four upper floors; the north building will be named Dell Computer Science Hall.

When completed, the Complex will be home to 60 faculty, 1400 undergraduate students, 250 graduate students and 50 staff. The department will be housed under one roof for the first time since its beginning.
