Tal
k Title: Why is the Network Slow?
Talk Abstract:
We have all sai
d it %93the network is slow%94 but why is the network
slow? With netwo
rking bandwidth and system processors constantly
increasing in speed w
hy does end-user performance sometimes
slow to a crawl? A highly perfor
ming ubiquitous network is assumed
as a starting point for many modern
application deployments. It is
important to understand how network cond
itions can dramatically affect
application delivery. In this presentatio
n Joel will discuss the complex
system interactions that can cause les
s than ideal performance and
discuss the latest technologies for making
distributed computing
systems perform.
