Title of Talk: ''What habituates in infant visual habituation? A psychoph
ysiological analysis''
Reception with Refreshments at 11:30 AM
Abstract: Visual habituation has long been used as a method for testing v
arious issues in the development of perception in human infants. Although i
t is clear that infants learn during habituation the learning that occurs
has not been well-investigated. In recent years our laboratory has collect
ed heart rate data simultaneous with %09looking in order to parse various p
hases of processing from looking. These data can be analyzed to test variou
s hypotheses about infant learning across the habituation session. This pre
sentation will show the results of such analyses presenting data that bear
on the presence and nature of visual information processing across the rep
eated trials.
