ptual organization; measurement analysis and application''

Abstract: The time scales over which temporally discrete ev
ents are grouped are measured in a variety of paradigms that require the fo
rmation of implicit associations; production of rhythm Posner cueing and
motor priming. A theory of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is pre
sented that suggests that these time scales might be contracted as a conseq
uence of dopamine dysfunction. We present evidence that this conjecture ma
y be true and that ADHD might be better described in terms of the span of i
mplicit working memory than in terms of attentional constructs having to do
with executive control of inhibitory function.
