Talk Abstract: What is Auto Scaling? Both

a paradigm and an essential feature of the EC2 cloud computing platform, a

uto scaling allows you to increase availability, reduce cost, and automat

e the muck of managing applications in the cloud.

EC2 Auto Scaling is

a control system incorporating feedback from performance metrics, meddling
users, and the ephemeral cloud to automate the management of highly avail

able applications in a cost effective manner. This talk will present an ov

erview of EC2 Auto Scaling, the value of auto scaling as a paradigm, and

tips for how to leverage it to build highly available distributed systems i

n the cloud.
