Faculty visit, Albert Cheng, University of Houston, "Developing Embedded Real-Time and Cyber-Physical Systems: Functional Reactive "

August 22, 2013

The use of sophisticated digital systems to control complex physical components in real-time has grown at a rapid pace. These applications range from traditional stand-alone systems to highly-networked cyber-physical systems (CPS's), spanning a diverse array of software architectures and control models. Examples include automobile adaptive braking, industrial robotic assembly, medical pacemakers, autonomous (ground, air, and sea) vehicular travel, remote surgery, physical manipulation of nano-structures, search-and-rescue, and space exploration. ...

Programming Languages Lunch seminar

July 21, 2013

The Programming Languages Lunch series offers students, faculty, and other interested community members a weekly opportunity to discuss research related to PL. We encourage presenters, especially students, to present work by other researchers (e.g., recent papers and/or an overview of a research area) or their own work (ongoing or completed). Ph.D. students in their first few years are strongly encouraged to sign up, to gain speaking experience and expose everyone to new topics. Just ask if you'd like ideas on what to present. ...

Programming Languages Lunch - Alex Loh, UTCS, "Build your own language with Ensō"

April 19, 2013

Talk Audience: UTCS Faculty and Graduate Students Talk Abstract: Ensō is an external language workbench with both graphical and textual editing capabilities. Each language is defined by a schema, or the model of its internal representation, which can be rendered either textually via a grammar or graphically via the diagramming DSL, stencil. Behavioral semantics in  Ensō are defined using model interpreters written in the Ruby programming language. ...
