I just accidentally deleted something I need (or just realized I need something I deleted a while ago). What can I do now?

First, you should try recovering the file from snapshots yourself; to learn how view the documentation on recovering files from snapshots. If that fails, email operator [at] cs [dot] utexas [dot] edu and ask them to restore your files. Include the following information:

  • When did you delete the file(s)?
  • When did you create the file(s)? ("Not recently" is enough)
  • When did you last change the file(s), before the day you deleted it/them?
