MRTG

The Multi Router Traffic Grapher is a tool originally used to monitor the traffic load on network links. It generates HTML pages with live, graphical represntations of the traffic.

Our configuration uses rrdtool to manage the MRTG databases and generates the graphs on the fly. Please be gentle with it.

UTCS is using MRTG to:

Monitor Unix lab usage. The graphs show the number of unique users logged into machines in the lab (potentially including users logged in remotely) in green and the number of console users (physically sitting at the machine) in blue.
Monitor host load averages. The graphs show the one minute and five minute load averages for specific machines in green and blue, respectively. The load averages are multiplied by 100.
Monitor Linux CPU usage. The graphs show the user+system and system usage, in jiffys/second.

Monitor network traffic. The graphs show the number of bits transmitted per second on particular interfaces; the bytes entering the router are shown in green and the bytes leaving the router are shown in blue.

INN news statistics

Innreport is a Perl script to summarize news log files. It produces a Daily Usenet report archive, which shows overall statistics over the last few weeks and has links to daily reports with more detailed information.
