Due: 2001-09-24 Monday 8.30 a.m. in class.
For this lab, consider the database as described in figure P2.28
(pages 99, 100, 101) of the text.
For this lab, you can use either MS-Access and/or Oracle to implement/save/recreate
the database/queries. Use/Select appropriate data types for the columns based
on needs described in your sub-labs below.
For this lab, for the ER-diagrams, you can use any software for
drawing ER Diagrams, or hand-drawn on a piece of paper with your name written
on it.
1a)
Problem 28, page 101. Submit the result in an electronic format (preferably a
MS-Word document) and paper versions. Please include your name as part of the
file entitled lab1xxyy.doc (where xx is the first-2 chars of your first name,
and yy are the first-2 chars of your last name e.g. if I was to submit this
file, it would be named lab1ajbh.doc).
1b)
Problem 29, page 101. Submit the result in an electronic format (preferably a
MS-Word document) and paper versions. Please include your name as part of the
file entitled lab1xxyy.doc. If submitting a hand-drawn sheet(s) of paper, make
sure they are stapled, with your name written on them.
1c)
Problem 5, page 171. If doing this in MS-Access, submit electronic and paper
versions of “lab1xxyy.mdb”, along with query.
1d)
Problem 11, page 174. If doing this in MS-Access, submit electronic and paper
versions of “lab1xxyy.mdb”, along with query.
1e)
Problem 13, page 174. If doing this in MS-Access, submit electronic and paper versions
of “lab1xxyy.mdb”, along with query.
NOTE: In all submissions above, the paper versions serve as a
backup to the electronic version.
NOTE: Please submit all of these in a folder, so that discs/paper
don’t fall out accidentally.
NOTE: For electronic submissions, use conventions such as
lab1xxyy.doc, lab1xxyy.mdb etc. as described above.
