NOTE: The
dates for the classes are tentative, and subject to change anytime by the
instructor. Please finish the reading assignment before the
class due date. All assignments/projects are due at the beginning of the
class on the date they are due. If changes in the schedule are necessary,
students will be held responsible for such changes, which will be announced in
class. All Chapters relate to the text
1 and text
2 for this course.
Consult
the registrar’s
office for other relevant dates.
Here’s
the procedure to drop (see also Calendar, p. 16 of your Course Bulletin):
A. Before September 24: you do not need instructor permission but must
come by university extension office to fill out the paperwork.
B. After September 24 but before October 22: you need instructor
permission but must first come to extension office to initiate the drop, then
go to instructor for signature.
C. After October 22: Drops after this date are given only for “rare
and urgent compelling non-academic reasons.” I do not consider their becoming
“busy at work” a “rare and urgent non-academic reason.” If work causes them to
need to drop after October 23, you must have a letter from your employer
stating that their work conditions have changed substantially in its nature
(e.g. increased travel, new position, required overtime, etc.).
D. UT students must have the signature of their dean’s office (Liberal
Arts’ students are exempt from this policy) to drop a course at any time, since
they needed it to take the course in the first place. This assures that the
dean’s’ offices can monitor their students as they are supposed to.
