Lab 2

Due: 2005-02-14 Monday 8.30 a.m. in class.

PURPOSE:

The purpose of this lab is to learn about Database Design using IDEF1X ER-Diagrams.

IMPLEMENTATION:

For this lab, consider solving all of the following:

a) Problem 2.77 of Chapter 2 (Page 69) from the text. (20 points)

b) Problem 2.78 of Chapter 2 (Page 69, 70) from the text. (30 points)

c) Problem 3.37 of Chapter 3 (Page 108) from the text. (50 points)

For the ER-diagrams, please use the IDEF1X notation (any other notation will result in 0 points). You can use any commercial software (MS-Word, Visio [which contains built-in templates in the Database folder], ERWin, MS-Paint etc.). Clearly label/write any assumptions you make during the design.

SUBMISSION:

Please submit a paper copy in class by the Due Date/Time.

Make sure you have written the following on your paper submission:

· First Name, Last Name

· Course Name

· Lab #

· EID (optional)
