This directory contains the source code for version 0.5 of the Texas
Persistent Storage system.

You will need to ftp both "texas-0.5.tar.Z" and "tdesc-4.15.1.tar.Z"
files. The former contains the source code for the Texas library, while
the latter is a tool for type descriptor generation based on GDB 4.15.1.
However, if you want to use Texas only on OS/2, then you do not need to
ftp "tdesc-4.15.1.tar.Z" file (since that code is only for Unix-like
systems). The type descriptor generator for OS/2 has been included in
the Texas distribution (in file "texas-0.5.tar.Z"). Also, the
documentation for building and using Texas is included in
"texas-0.5.tar.Z".

The files "tdesc-part-{1,2,3,4,5}" contains the "tdesc-4.15.1.tar.Z"
file split into 5 pieces, using the "split" command. Use "cat" to
concatenate all files in a single file to obtain the original tar
file.

IMPORTANT: If you are using Texas on a Linux box, with g++ 2.7.x, please
statically link "o2tdesc" and "findvfts" (the type descriptor generator
programs in "tdesc-4.15.1/gdb" directory). This gets around a bug which
causes these programs to crash when executed.

If you start using Texas, please send your email address to us at
<oops@cs.utexas.edu> so that we can keep you informed of bug fixes.
