The University of Texas at Austin Department of Computer Science (UTCS) is at a pivotal point on the Texas economic timeline. The cost—to the university, the state, and the economy—of failing to accomplish our vision far outweighs the cost of action.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Computer Science Complex is a unique opportunity for vision and leadership, for talent acquisition to feed a thriving economy, for first-rate education, and for a lasting digital legacy in Texas. It will be an essential component of the drive for excellence in computer science and to better fulfill the university's mission to enhance the technological, and thus the economic development of Texas and the nation.

Naming Opportunities

Naming opportunities in the Bill & Melinda Gates Computer Science Complex, ranging from the south building, student, faculty and research spaces and classrooms, offer unique opportunities for visionary partners to gain recognition and visibility as well as establish a legacy for a dynamic digital future in Texas. Pending UT Board of Regents approval, various sections of the building can be named as the donor wishes.

If you would like to join us in supporting the new computing center of the Southwest, please chair [at] cs [dot] utexas [dot] edu ( contact us) about the many opportunities available, including naming for:

  • Major academic facilities
  • Administrative facilities
  • Student facilities
  • Laboratories
  • Community and visitor facilities

Endowment Campaign

We are embarking on an endowment campaign to ensure critical talent retention and competitiveness and to build key programs. A variety of endowment opportunities to support faculty, research, programs and students are available. These endowments ensure that UTCS builds the competitive edge that will support a strong regional digital economy. Please chair [at] cs [dot] utexas [dot] edu (contact us) to discuss the endowment opportunties available.

We invite you to partner with us in this critical challenge by:

  • learning more about UTCS and it's impact,
  • helping us spread the news to your circle of influence,
  • chair [at] cs [dot] utexas [dot] edu (meeting with us) to discuss the impact you could have by participating in the funding plan, or
  • giving a gift now.
