Two of our undergraduates, Chand John and Jerry Sun, recently received national recognition for their outstanding research potential. Chand John was among four finalists for the award and Jerry Sun was selected for honorable mention.

Chand John received a B.S. in Computer Sciences with Highest Honors and a B.S. in Mathematics with Pure Math Option with Highest Honors in spring 2003. He completed an honors project, CS 379H during fall 2002. Chandrajit Bajaj was his advisor.

Jerry Sun graduated in May 2003 with a B.S. in Computer Sciences with honors and is currently pursuing a doctorate at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Tandy Warnow was his undergraduate research advisor. Visit http://www.cs.utexas.edu/users/jsun/ for information on Jerry.

The annual CRA Outstanding Undergraduate Award Program (http://www.cra.org/Activities/awards/undergrad/home.html) recognizes undergraduate students who show outstanding research potential in an area of computing research. Nominations are made by the student's department.
