2012 UTCS Ph.D. Hooding Ceremony

UTCS honored new Ph.D. graduates at its annual hooding ceremony. Each new graduate received a short testimonial from his or her graduate research advisor. The new doctors were then hooded by UTCS Professor Peter Stone. Afterwards, a reception was held for graduates, faculty, friends and family.

Longhorn Startup Camp Showcases 27 New Companies During Startup Crawl March 8

The University of Texas at Austin's newest space for startups — Longhorn Startup Camp — will be a stop on the SXSW Startup Crawl, which takes place Thursday, March 8, from 4 to 10 p.m. as part of UT Entrepreneurship Week. As a stop on the crawl, Longhorn Startup Camp will showcase its residents – 27 new startups, all originated at the university.

GradFest Open House 2012

The department hosted prospective Ph.D. students at GradFest 2012, a two-day exploration of UTCS research, resources, and community. Over 30 admitted students attended panel discussions, toured labs, and met with faculty one-on-one. Current graduate students hosted the out-of-towners in their own homes for a real look at life as a UTCS grad student.

Visions of Computer Lecture Series Speakers and Chair Bruce Porter

On Wednesday, October 26, 2011, the University of Texas at Austin Department of Computer Science held the annual Visions of Computing Lecture, a lecture series honoring UTCS faculty accomplishments. Through this lecture series, faculty presented insights into computer science research and education to the public and the computing community.
