Computer Science Students Win at SXSW Game Jam

Although sometimes outshined by its music and film counterparts, South by Southwest Interactive is a five-day festival that SXSW Inc. calls “the most energetic, inspiring and creative event of the year.” SXSW Interactive is focused on emerging technology and is often the breeding ground for the newest and most innovative technologies in the world. Each year, some of the best and brightest minds in computer science flock to SXSW Interactive to give presentations, prove their skill, and show their passion for computing.

The Longhorn Network Checks Out the VisLab

The university’s Longhorn Network visits the Texas Advanced Computing Center‘s Visualization Laboratory at The University of Texas at Austin.

In the Vislab, simulations are displayed on Stallion, the world’s highest resolution tiled display.

RoboCup Remix

The video footage is from the second half of the championship game in the 3-D Simulation league in RoboCupSoccer 2011. UT Austin Villa won the game, 4-0, over a team from Changzhou Institute of Technology in China. The audio track is “humm ok,” by Gablé (Creative Commons).
