03/06/2014 - On Saturday, February 1st, the computer science department hosted 172 students from 32 different high schools at the 5th annual UTCS University Interscholastic League (UIL) Contest. Teams from all over the state traveled to compete in the open format contest. Read more
04/05/2013 - UTCS alum Paul Taele has been awarded a National Science Foundation East Asia and Pacific Summer Institute (NSF EAPSI) fellowship for 2013. Paul will be carrying out research that focuses on enhancing creative computing tools for promoting better design thinking using sketch recognition techniques with Dr. Richard C. Davis at Singapore Management University in Singapore. He was also previously a recipient of the NSF EAPSI fellowship in 2012, where he had pursued research abroad in Taiwan at National Taiwan University. Read more
12/03/2012 - President Powers recently announced Michael Scott as a recipient of the 2012-13 President's Associates Teaching Excellence Award. This award recognizes Mike's consistent levels of excellence in teaching undergraduates. The award was established in the fall of 1980 to recognize excellence in undergraduate teaching at UT Austin. 06/15/2011 - The Board of Regents of The University of Texas System has recognized Professor Calvin Lin and Senior Lecturer Mike Scott for outstanding teaching. Mike and Calvin are two of just seven UT faculty who got the award this year.The awards are given to faculty members who demonstrate extraordinary classroom performance and innovation at the undergraduate level. 06/03/2011 - Senior Lecturer Michael D. Scott is one of four faculty members at The University of Texas at Austin selected to hold a Dads' Association Centennial Teaching Fellowship during the 2011-12 fall semester. The award reflects the recipients' teaching excellence and commitment and an acknowledgment of the many contributions they have made to the undergraduate experience for students at the university. Recipients of the award will receive a $3,500 honorarium. Read more
