The University of Texas at Austin Department of Computer Sciences and Women in Computer Sciences (WICS) is pleased to present Carnegie Mellon University's "Women @SCS Outreach Roadshow" on February 21st from 5 - 6 pm in the ACES Auditorium 2.302 (Avaya).

Graduates from the School of Computer Science (SCS) at Carnegie Mellon will discuss their diverse backgrounds and research areas in computer science, language technologies and robotics. This talk aims to give undergraduates in computer science and other majors, a taste of some of the exciting research and professional opportunities available in graduate school. Goals of the talk entitled "Discovering Graduate School Opportunities" include:

  • Challenge stereotypes
  • Show breath and diversity of field
  • Get undergraduates excited about the variety of research in computing related areas
  • Provide an interesting and enjoyable learning experience
  • Provide role model and mentoring opportunities to students
  • Provide speaking / leadership and networking opportunities for students
  • Increase the visibility of young women in the field
  • Tell womens' experiences of computer science and related fields
