The University of Texas Department of Computer Sciences (UTCS) is pleased to offer our very popular Friends of Computer Sciences (FoCS) program. The FoCS program exists to create and support mutually beneficial collaboration opportunities between UTCS and industry. The FoCS program affords industry an opportunity to benefit from cutting edge research activities, access to faculty and students and networking with other industry affiliates. The partnership with industry affords UTCS an opportunity to understand the needs and practices of our industrial partners in order to develop future computer sciences talent and skills applicable in virtually every business sector including aerospace, banking, communications, defense, energy, entertainment, health care and transportation, to name a few. Additionally, research collaborations and industry support of department initiatives and programs are key to UTCS's success.

The FoCS program was born in 1997 under the leadership of past department chair, Dr. Benjamin Kuipers, and is currently managed through the UTCS Office of External Affairs. Through the boom and bust years, the FoCS program has remained strong with an impressive roster of members.
