UTCS UIL Computer Science Contest
Event is full. Accepting waitlist registrations only.
Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the University of Texas at Austin campus.
Format
- The contest will consist of a 45 minute multiple choice test and a 2 hour programming contest with 12 problems.
- UIL style scoring for written test and programming contest.
- The programming language for the contest is Java.
- Most problems will require you to read from data files.
- For the programming contest submission will be via a wireless PC^2 backup. Submission will be via PC^2 only. Teams must have a machine with a wireless network card to compete in the programming contest.
- The contest written exam and programming pack will be new materials, NOT the UIL B invitational materials.
Awards
There will be individual and team awards for large (4A and 5A) and small (1A - 3A) schools. Individual awards will be based on the written test only. Team score will be the total of the written scores of contestants on a team and the team programming score.
Tentative Schedule of Events:
- 8:00 - 9:30am Check in.
- 9:30 - 10:30am UTCS Presentation
- 10:30 - 11:30am Written Test
- 11:30 - 12:30pm Lunch
- 12:30 - 1:00pm Computer Set Up
- 1:00 - 2:00pm Dry run and system checks
- 2:00 - 4:00pm Programming Contest
- 4:00 - 5:00pm Appeals, Verification, Compile Final Scores
- 5:00pm Awards
Teams
Each school may enter up to two teams of students. Teams consist of three students each. A school may enter one team with less than three students. This counts as one of the schools two teams.
Registration
Registration should be mailed to Mike Scott at scottm [at] cs [dot] utexas [dot] edu. Please include the following information:
- Your school name
- Your UIL classification
- The sponsor or coaches name
- The number of teams you plan on bringing
- A contact phone number
There is no entry fee for this contest.
