Transfer to UT CS from Another University
Students who wish to transfer to UT and study Computer Science should apply for UT admission as an Entry-level Computer Science major. After completing CS Entry-level requirements at UT, transfer students are eligible for promotion to the CS major.
The important thing to know as a prospective transfer student is that we will work with you to evaluate your transcript and to place you in the right UT CS classes when you arrive. In fact, the first thing you should do is to visit the CS Undergraduate Advising Center.
Keep in mind that the University imposes a residency requirement: In order to receive an undergraduate degree you must complete 60 hours in residence at UT Austin.
Transfer students from within the state of Texas may find the University's Automated Transfer Equivalency Database useful. It is a searchable database in which one may look up the UT equivalent for any college course offered within the state of Texas.
You may also find useful the University’s list of courses recommended for transfer.
