7/26/2000 possible outline of each network architecture's web page
(based on the 7/26 meeting)
A Technical History of
Research Contributions: (i.e. what are the most important technical
* contributions made BY this
* network architecture TO further
* .... the research community?)
Timeline (detailing the major modifications to the Design from
the first draft through some chosen year, but also include
any other timeline items that provide some context/perspective)
Hypertext Tour of this Architecture (based on 7/26 group discussion)
(the tour should be multi-level, an easy approach is 2 levels:
level 1 is conceptually 1 web page that comprises the detail
that we were calling "the quick tour". We would then use hypertext
links to travel to a detailed explanation where appropriate.
So the 1st level might be just 1 web page: (although some people
may make this 2 levels also...)
I think of this 1st level as a technical introduction to this
architecture - remember your audience is technical)
(so go back to the taxonomy sheet for details, but it would look
something like this....:
overview,
architectural components
layering
taxonomy table (e.g. one for TCP and one for IP , or one for
IMP-IMP, one for HOST-HOST, etc)
ok to pencil sketch the figure with the 8 hosts....
where would you put either a diagram or a paragraph
specifying how a msg travels from the source host to
the destination host.
Then for more detail on this sliding window protocol, one would
click on something and go to the area that has a detailed
description of the specifics of this sliding window protocol
(you don't have to explain how sliding window works, but
why did they choose the parameters they did or any other
type of explanation/motivation for their design choice...)
Annotated Bibliography of the most important components of the Digital Archive
(organize by date and subject (only if needed) )
On 7/19 we discussed that this could also be organized by levels...
i.e. which are the most important to read?
Digital Archive
(with links to maps, oral histories, momentos,
original papers/specs/memos catalogued someway and searchable,
sw implementation?)
