The following information is a detailed estimate of SIGCOMM conference revenue. I suggest that conference planners for SIGCOMM96 and SIGCOMM97 use it as a guideline in developing the budget portion of your own TMRF. Unfortunately, we do not have final reports from previous conferences at this level of detail. The breakdown of the registration by category mirrors an incomplete version of the SIGCOMM94 registration numbers. The registration chair for SIGCOMM95 will be providing a complete version by category after the conference. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sample TMRF ( Revenue section only ) for SIGCOMM95 CCE-Y 7/1/95 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Revenue Detail Estimated Current Yr 0100 Registration the TMRF needs a breakdown by each category ( number of people x rate = total ). Conferences are NOT in general a money making activity, but they cannot be a money losing activity, either. Registration fees should straddle the line of covering all costs and contingencies without being excessive and without being unusually inexpensive. Ask the registration chair to keep data on the categories of registration for future conference planners. Sometimes, the budget for the entire SIG will require the conference to make a small profit, $5-10K in order to provide other services. 0100 Registration Income no. price total ( 25 complimentary, 225 paid of which 30 were late, 195 early, 155 paid members + 29 paid nonmembers + 41 paid students ) 0110 Full Conference Advance Registration: 0111 ACM/SIG Members: 135 $325 $43,875.00 0114 Non-Members: 25 $425 $10,625.00 0115 Complimentary: 25 $0 $0.00 5-7 sigcommex + 3-5 sigcomm95 conf. committee + 1 award winner + 1 student award winner + 4-8 tutorial presentors will attend + 5 others (student assistants, etc) ( ideally try to keep this down to approximately 15, rather than 25 ) 0120 Late Full Conference Registration: 0121 ACM/SIG Members: 20 $375 $7,500.00 0124 Non-Members: 4 $475 $1,900.00 Other Categories: 0130 Full-time Students (early): 35 $110 $3,850.00 0140 Full time students (late): 6 $140 $0,840.00 0189 Total Registration: 250 $68,590.00 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 0190 Social Functions: no. price total Extra tickets for lunch and social events: Price as exact as possible, we don't want to make money here, nor do we want to lose any. At some point, the amount gets too high. I think $60.00 sounds high.
