SIGCOMM 2002 Sponsorship As of Feb 22, 2002 Thank you for your interest in supporting SIGCOMM 2002. It is the premiere forum for presenting academic research on the Internet and related technologies. It ranks 5th in citations per year among all computer science conferences (just behind USENIX), according to Citeseer. The formal paper review process is quite selective and will result in an intense program consisting of only the best work in the field. The program committee is already reviewing the 265 the papers that have been submitted this year to select the best 33 papers to be presented at the conference and published in the proceedings. We are currently seeking corporate sponsors for the SIGCOMM 2002. Our general approach is to place logos and proper acknowledgments at the meeting an in the programs in exchange for sponsorship at one of three levels: At the first level (bronze), corporate supporters will be given visibility in a number of ways in return for financial support at the $5,000 level. At the Silver and Gold levels, corporate supporters can receive additional recognition by underwriting specific SIGCOMM events or activities for $10,000 or $20,000. We can be quite flexible about the details, as long as we preserve fairness to all of our sponsors. In return for financial support of SIGCOMM 2002 at a level of $5,000, bronze corporate supporters will receive the following recognition: . Logo on the SIGCOMM 2002 front web page, which is the main source of logistical and advance agenda information for SIGCOMM 2002 attendees. . Logo on the advance program notification. It will be mailed to about 8000 people. . Logo on the title page of the conference proceedings. The proceedings are handed out to attendees and a copy is mailed to all ACM SIGCOMM members. The distribution is about 4000. . Explicit "thank you" in the welcome address at the conference and in the Chair<92>s Message printed in the front of the proceedings. . Opportunities to display brochures or leaflets on a table in the terminal room. The sponsor is responsible for sending or bringing the brochures with them to the conference. The table is shared and each sponsor can use up to two 8x11 spaces. . One complementary registration for the conference. For companies interested in a higher level of support in exchange for more visibility, we offer the opportunity to sponsor specific events and activities. Sponsors at the Silver and Gold levels will receive the same visibility as the bronze sponsors plus they will be thanked in connection with the specific event or resources. The logos for Silver and Gold sponsors will be larger to reflect their relative contributions. For $10,000 we offer the following options: . Opening reception at the conference hotel: SIGCOMM opens with a reception the Wednesday evening, before the start of the main technical program. (Already spoken for.) . Student dinner at Dave and Buster<92>s: SIGCOMM puts a lot of effort into attracting students to the conference by directly subsidizing their travel and by hosting a some events such as the student dinner, specifically designed to foster student interpersonal networking within the research community. . Outrageous opinion session: This is a social event in which attendees can present typically non-technical but outrageous opinions about networking and related topics. . Student work-in-progress poster session: During this session, students present their work in poster form. This event provides a venue for the rising star students to get early visibility and feedback on their research ideas. . Support for the terminal room, Internet connectivity, wireless access, etc., including "in kind" support. At the Gold level, the corporate supporter sponsors a specific high profile conference event or activity: . There will be a large banquet held in the Carnegie Museum here in Pittsburgh. This will be a very nice event held in the ornate marble lobby of the original Carnegie Music Hall, with open access to many of the museum exhibits. Although the Carnegie Music Hall in New York is more well-known, Pittsburgh was Andrew Carnegie's home base and his source of wealth. The Banquet can be sponsored for only $20k - roughly half of the actual cost o f the event. . There are several different options for student travel and registration grants. The total conference subsidy to students is likely to be in excess of $40,000. These are the very people who will driving the next step in the evolving Internet. In past years we have often had a single sponsor carrying the lion's share of the student expenses. This year we are seeking a greater number of smaller sponsors.
