Thanks for that info Craig, thats very helpful. If you could send me
a copy of the two letters that you used previously that would be great.

Here's the version used for new companies (as GROFF source).

Dear XXX:
.sp
.LP
On behalf of the ACM SIGCOMM, I am writing to invite
\*(CO
to become one of the six sponsors of the ACM SIGCOMM '96 Conference.
.LP
ACM SIGCOMM is the world's most prestigious annual research conference on
computer networking. This year's conference will be the sixteenth SIGCOMM
conference. We expect over 300 of the finest researchers
from around the world will come to Stanford University in August of 1996 for
two days of technical tutorials and three days of research presentations.
Historically, many of the innovative ideas presented at SIGCOMM have rapidly
found their way into Internet products.
.LP
Sponsors are asked to contribute $2,500 each. These contributions are used
to offset startup costs, reduce conference fees, and improve meals
and services at the conference. This year sponsor support is particularly
important to us because we will use the sponsors' gifts to help experiment
with broadcasting portions of the conference over the Internet and
the cable networks in the Bay Area.
.LP
Given \*(C1's prominence in the networking field, we think there's a natural
fit with the networking research community that will attend
ACM SIGCOMM '96.
.LP
As a sponsor, \*(C1's logo would be prominently included in our conference
mailings (sent to 25,000 networking engineers worldwide) and the
conference proceedings (sent to nearly 6,000 engineers and
libraries). A representative of each sponsor will also be invited
to our conference social, which we plan to hold at a Bay Area winery.
(If you'd like to sponsor the social, please let me know).
.LP
If you are interested in sponsoring SIGCOMM '96, please contact me at
the address or phone number below before March 15th. (Our advertising
goes to press in late March). If you have any questions or concerns,
please do not hesitate to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you.
