3 INSTALLATION

------------------------

3.1 Availability

PCSpim is available in all the PCs of the CS Microcomputer lab in Painter.

3.2 System Requirements

For those who want to install it at home, the spimwin.exe file can be downloaded from the internet from the CS310 class webpage.

The minimum system requirements for PCSpim are a 486 dx2 or higher PC with Windows 95 installed.

The spimwin.exe file is a self-extracting zip file. When the file is run, a dialog box will appear asking into which directory the files should be unzipped. The default should be "C:\Program Files\PCSpim" and it is recommended that the files are unzipped here in order to simplify the setup procedure. This is done by selecting "Unzip".

"C:\Program Files\PCSpim\setup32.exe" /install

Select OK.
