Ron J. Anderson, M.D. is the President and CEO of Parkland Health & Hospital Systems, the general public county hospital for Dallas County and teaching hospital for UT Southwestern Medical School.

He has been the recipient of numerous awards including: the James E. Peavy Award, "Health Care Professional of the Year" from the Texas Nurses Association, the McGovern award, finalist for the National Primary Care Achievement Award, "Public Citizen of the Year" from the National Social Workers of Texas, and election into the prestigious Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences.

Dr. Anderson has been at the forefront in shaping public healthcare policy in Texas, setting a model for the nation. In 1985, he played a major role in the passage of landmark legislation concerning indigent healthcare in Texas. He was appointed co-chair of the Attorney General’s task force to study not-for profit hospitals in 1988. Dr. Anderson has chaired the DFW Hospital Council, the Texas Association of Public and Non-Profit Hospitals, the Texas Board of Health, and the National Health Policy Council. Dr. Anderson currently serves as the chairman of the Texas Hospital Association’s Board of Trustees and commissioner for the Kaiser Family Foundation’s Commission on Medicaid and the Uninsured.
