DS Council Weekly Minutes for the Meeting on Tuesday, 05 March 2002
|
In attendance: Barbara, Brandon, Clare, Ellie, Marguerite, Marshall, Marwan, James C., James S., Sara
Absent: Bess, Cameron, John
- Yes, the coed basketball team lost in double overtime, and yes, it was painful . . . sniff, sniff . . .
- Soccer won last Monday against Plan II led by the insane strategy of the goalie, James Scott. For clarification, James's strategy appeared to be: pick up the soccer ball and kick it out of bounds. He claimed to be trying to kick the ball to Meredith, but as Brandon reminded us all, the one definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.
- Andy is taking care of softball arrangements.
- Ultimate Frisbee has ended.
- The Explore UT LN2 ice cream booth was a success!
- The idea of sending out a DS Monthly Update was discussed at length.
- Do we need to send out another newsgroup how-to? How about including it as a permanent footer on the DS Monthly Update instead?
- Bess couldn't tell us about the social since she wasn't present so Brandon dazzled everyone with his newly acquired "bingo lingo" as he summed up the outing.
- Eventually, there will be a social to the comedy club.
- Barbara told us that the kids from Ortega got an excellence award at Austin Science Fun Day; tutoring and mentoring are still going well.
- MSEP is still happening.
- Brandon and Clare reported on the Lunch with Rankin.
- Sara discussed tactics for recruiting freshmen (specifically, having a few names with contact info on the website).
