• Clare indicated what roles Swee, Tim, and Brittany will play on council. Swee will collaborate with Barbara in running some kind of mentor program, Tim will assist Will in coordinating the speaker series, and Brittany will be in charge of DS Science Fun Day.
• Next Thursday, 9/19, we will meet with the first-year folks at 5:00 PM in Carothers 007. Everyone who can make it should be prepared to briefly explain the activities they are involved with to give the new members of DS an idea of what opportunities are available to them.
• The Fort Davis trip will take place on the weekend of November 15-16, pending approval of the observatory people.
• We chose the first two weekends on April as our dates of choice for the spring Port Aransas trip.
• Marshall gave an IM sports update... Football is on track, and we're hoping to land a coed soccer league on Sunday evenings.
• The 1st DS Movie Night is this Friday.
• Ann Marie and Brittany volunteered to attend lunch with the dean Friday afternoon.
• We brainstormed DS t-shirt ideas. Psst! Vote for the baseball-style jersey thing! Two-tone rocks!
• We put off consideration of the by-laws until next week.
• Will reminded us of the importance of putting up flyers for the Neal Lane talk. We'll get them at next week's meeting and paste them everywhere.
• MSEP groups will meet next week to organize, and on Saturday, 9/21, there will be a workday to build some stuff we'll need.
