To Glory We Steer
Bolitho assumes command of the frigate Phalarope in the
wake of a near mutiny, and proceeds to the Americas for the closing stages
of the Revolutionary War. In this book we first meet Herrick and Allday,
the former the third lieutenant, and the latter a pressed man. Also,
Bolitho learns that his brother Richard has gone over to the Americans,
and is captured by him. After a mutiny, the Phalarope takes part in an
engagement on the periphery of the Battle of the Saintes (sp), and the
book ends with Bolitho at home in Falmouth, with both his father and
brother dead, as well as Stockdale.
