Backup Procedure: WindowsClick on the Start Menu and choose "CS Dept. Backup." A shell will open and prompt you for a password. Enter your backup-server password. The software will then examine the files in your local home directory as well as those already on the backup server, and then transmit only those that are necessary. Depending on your network connection speed and the amount of files that have been updated since the last backup, this can take a long time. When the process completes, it will report a summary of the process as well as any errors. Once the process has completed, press any key to close the shell. To access backed-up files, use the included SFTP or SCP client to connect to wopr.lecs.cs.utexas.edu. Once connected, navigate to ~/.lecs/laptopbackups/ If you encounter a total disk failure and require a comlpete restore, email laptop-support@cs.utexas.edu and we will help you through it. If you wish to install backup support on an existing Windows PC, download the software here and follow the included installation instructions.
