Missed quizzes or tests will be excused only for the following reasons:
- Participation in a UT-sponsored activity. You must notify me one week before the event.
- The event is in conflict with a religious observance. You must notify me by the 4th class day.
- A medical emergency. You must provide me with a health provider's note within 24 hours.
There will be 5 projects.
The first project must be done individually.
The remaining projects may be done in pairs with pair programming. One solution will be turned in for the pair.
Both students will receive 5 bonus pts, if they vouch for the fact that they worked on the project together for more than 75% of the time.
Bonus pts will not increase the total score beyond the max score.
You may not partner with the same person more than once.
A project that does not produce the correct output from the provided input within the specification will count as zero.
Projects must run in the CS Labs.
For every day that a project is late, one fifth of the points will be lost, so that in five days it will be worth zero. Corrupt or incomplete submissions will count as one day late. You must e-mail the grader when submitting late or re-submitted projects.
Projects will first be graded without regard to penalties or bonuses. After that grade is determined, penalties will be subtracted and bonuses will be added, up to the max score.
The solution to the project will not be provided. The grader will grade, comment, return, and post the grade of the project within one week. The grade can only be disputed within the following one week. All grade disputes must be made in writing by e-mail to the grader with supporting evidence or arguments.
There will be 24 quizzes. The lowest 4 will be dropped.
There will be no make-up quizzes for any reason.
6 missed unexcused quizzes (including the 4 dropped) will result in a one letter-grade drop in your final grade.
The solution to the quiz will be provided. The grader will grade and post the grade of the quiz within two days. The grade can only be disputed within the following one week. All grade disputes must be made in writing by e-mail to the grader with supporting evidence or arguments.
The grader will not return the quiz in class, but it may be picked up during office hours.
There will be 2 tests.
There will be no final.
Tests will be closed book with one page of notes.
The solution to the test will not be provided. The grader will grade and post the grade of the test within one week. The grade can only be disputed within the following one week. All grade disputes must be made in writing by e-mail to the grader with supporting evidence or arguments.
The grader will not return the test, but will make it available for review during office hours. If you do not return the test, you will receive a zero.
A student can earn an additional 20 pts of extra credit, total, 10 pts for each of the following:
