Introduction to Ethics
Make sure that you have read Chapter 2, Section 1 through 6, of Ethics for the Information Age. Go through the class slides at least as far as
slide 51.
Watch these two videos:
·
http://www.ted.com/talks/paul_zak_trust_morality_and_oxytocin.html?quote=1148
·
http://www.ted.com/talks/dan_ariely_on_our_buggy_moral_code.html
Write one paragraph in response to each of these questions:
·
Describe
an experiment that might someday be possible and that might either support or
refute the kind of claim that Zak is making.
·
Can you
think of other factors, in addition to the ones the Ariely
discusses, that might affect the degree to which people are tempted to
cheat? Pick one. Describe an experiment that would allow you
to test the hypothesis that the factor you’ve mentioned does in fact affect
people’s behavior. (Hint: it’s okay for
your experiment to look a lot like those that Ariely
describes.)
