Empowering Leadership Alliance (ELA) @ UTCS is a campus branch of the
EL Alliance community. As the title implies, ELA seeks to encourage under represented UTCS students to get involved in leadership, networking, and mentoring with peers, faculty, and professionals in the area of Computer Science both locally and nationally. We seek to empower students by providing opportunities in which they can become engaged in these activities within UT and the minority community in Texas, as well as through participation in conferences offered by the EL Alliance national organization.

Outreach: Become Involved!
In February, a group of us had the opportunity to speak to students in the south Texas area. Students Rudy Depena and Joaquin Rodriguez volunteered to conduct a presentation on Computer Sciences to about 700 high school students...this is just one of the opportunities available to you through ELA!
The EL Alliance is supported through the National Science Foundation's Directorate for Computer and Information Science (CISE) and Engineering's Broadening Participation in Computing (BPC) program.
