This is the breadth graduate course on computer networks, with a special 
emphasis on the Internet. The list of topics I am hoping to cover in this

The textbook for this course is "Elements of Network Protocol Design" by 
Mohamed G. Gouda, published by John Wiley and Sons Inc. in 1998. We will cover 
Chapters 1 through 4 and Chapters 13 through 22 in this textbook.

I hate giving long answers by email. So, do not email me questions of the
form "Explain to me ...". I prefer to answer such questions in person or on
the phone.

If you have any such questions, you can ask me during or after the lectures
or you can come to my office on Thursday between 2 and 3 pm. You can also
stop by my office any time but be prepared to find me busy and so unable to
answer your questions. You can call me at home any time before 9 pm.

The teaching assistant for this course is Mr. Chin-Tser Huang, whose email 
address is chuang@cs.texas.edu. Huang will have office hours as follows:

The grade for this course will be given based on one project (10 points),
two homeworks (15 points each), and two midterms (30 points each). The two 
midterms will be conducted on the following dates:
	March 6  	6 - 9 pm at Taylor Hall 2.106, and
	May 1	  	6 - 9 pm at Taylor Hall 2.106
