Keeping track of the many books or publications you have read can be
challenging. Let me show you some tools that make it easier to manage
bibliographies.
Bibtex-XML
The Bibtex-XML tools allows you to store your bibliography in XML to
allow other tools to work with it. See the bibtex-xml sourceforge page for
more information. The page contains converters to and from the bibtex
format, among other things.
You may also want to look at the related BibTeX-XML-HTML
project.
Extensions to Bibtex-XML
I have extended Bibtex-XML to include paper abstracts and notes, and
to generate a better HTML output. The results are a complete package
for bibliographies that can export to both HTML and bibtex format. If
you follow the bibtex-xml link above you can also find a tool to
import your current bibtex bibliography into XML so you can use it
with my tools.
You can download the whole package here
(includes txml), and consult the README.
To see what kind of html files my extensions generate, check out this
sample HTML bibliography, or the
bibliography on Byzantine fault independence.
txml
Because typing XML by hand (or generating it by script) is such a pain
I have developed the shorthand txml format. This makes it much easier
to type, without having to compromise on the resulting XML.
You can download my tools to convert shorthand
to valid XML, or look at the README to get a
better idea of what txml is.
