I am a direct descendent of a colonial Virginian named John Lavinder from Franklin County, Virginia, who immigrated to the Americas in the 1700's from England. He was descended from French Huguenots who fled France and immigrated to Elizabethean England in the late 1500's as part of the Huguenot diaspora. My great-great grandfather & grandmother, Lewis Marshall Lavinder (1853-1946) and 
Emma Jane Goode (1861-1935), are depicted here in their wedding picture (1877).
