Project for Memory Management CS 395T Fall 2003

Learning to Develop a Research Plan. The purpose of this assignment is to assist you in your research career by improving your problem identification, creativity, and plan of attack skills.

Project. 20% of your grade will be an approximately 2 page polished proposal of a memory management problem with measurements and/or quantification of this problem and a solution. If the literature already contains a motivating measurement, a proposed optimization will suffice. Your work should be modest in scope. For example, you could propose to determine if there is a correlation between object size and lifetime, and pretenure appropriately. (This project is taken. ;-) Your work should be novel, and you should support this point by citing related work, and justifying why it does not answer the question or implement the optimization already. Your proposal can be derived from your research, but may not be a project on which you are currently working.
