Study Guide for Test 1


Our first test will held on Wednesday 23 July 2008. The
test will cover the following material:

* Conversion of decimal numbers (positive, negative,
  and floating point) to binary and vice versa.

* Definition and explanation of simple concepts in
  Physics - charge, Coulomb's Law, field, potential,
  current, resistivity, conductivity

* Explanation of simple concepts in semi-conductor
  Physics - n and p type silicon, n and p type
  transistors, diodes, inverters, NAND, NOR, AND,
  OR gates

* Boolean algebra - use of truth tables to prove
  Boolean relationships, expressions, drawing 
  circuit diagram from a Boolean expression, 

* Combinational logic circuits - adder, decoder,
  multiplexer


There will be about 10 questions. So you will have
about 5 minutes per question. Be sure to come to
class on time.
