I am a rock climber. I've been climbing since 1991. I consider myself a
good 5.9 climber. 5.10s are challenging but I can often do them. 5.11s are
beyond my ambitions. I climb locally at the Greenbelt, Reimers, and E-Rock
and try to get out at least once a week. I have climbed in West Texas,
Arizona, and Colorado, on both sport and mountaineering routes.

I got my PhD from the University of
Edinburgh in Scotland. (For a
picture of the City of Edinburgh [138 Kbytes], click here.) I really like Scotland, especially
the coast, mountains, and castles. My machine here at UT is named after Tantallon Castle [56 Kbytes], on the North Sea Coast east of Edinburgh.
