Back To Work

After six weeks of staying at home with Alex, I went back to work. Alex sleeps most of the day so I felt as though it may be better to take three months off once she's a bit older and needs my attention more. It's been difficult for us since I'm still incredibly sleep deprived and I continue to give Mariquita breast milk... but I have the option of taking my leave of absence sooner if we find that we can't manage. Fortunately, I have a very understanding manager who is allowing me to work from home three days out of the week.

Finding a nanny to take care of Nathan and Alex was quite stressful. I couldn't sleep the first day of interviewing... how could I trust my babies to any of these strangers?! The only reason I am willing to work again is that Greg and I are taking turns working from home so one of us is always present. My hope is that in time we will become comfortable enough with the new nanny to leave the kids alone with her. I found a young mother, Sujey Castro, who seems energetic enough to play with Nathan and responsible enough to take care of my two babies. She came to the interview with her husband and two year old daughter. They were both clean cut and seemingly responsible. Her husband impressed me more than she did which was good since I want someone who comes from a good home. She only speaks Spanish which will help reinforce Nathan's Spanish. I hope Sujey works out well. So far, she is always on time or early, plays well with Nathan, takes proper care of Little Gal, and helps me with house work when the children are asleep. She seems like a good person.
