· If you’re traveling on Adventure Cycling’s Southern Tier, following the “Austin Alternate route”, the eastbound instructions for Section 4 (Map A) begin at the starting point of this route.

· If you’re traveling north from San Marcos, New Braunfels or San Antonio on this nice route, the instructions below will guide you into downtown Austin using roads that are somewhat better than Congress Avenue.

13.5	Intersect Slaughter Ln. Continue on S. 1^st St.	From here on, this route deviates from the Southern Tier in favor of somewhat better roads than Congress Avenue

15.5	Turn left on William Cannon Dr.
15.7	Turn right on Emerald Forest Dr.	Emerald Forest Dr. becomes Vinson Dr.

22.5	Arrive at the corner of Congress Avenue and 7^th Street in the heart of downtown Austin.	On this map, this ending point is 2 blocks south of landmark number 11. If you’re following the Southern Tier maps, note that Congress Avenue extends northward to Martin Luther King Blvd, which becomes FM 969 east of Austin, and is the Southern Tier’s route from Bastrop to Austin. (However, check out this much better route between Austin and Bastrop.)
