Budget cuts have made hit at UTCS and I am currently
looking for full-time employment.

Vita in Word format. More about me...
I was born in rural North Dakota and grew up on a
wheat farm. My mom was a teacher and my dad worked as a mechanic and as a
farmer. We grew durum wheat, the kind used to make pasta, and a little
barley for feeding to the cows. I spent most of my time playing baseball
and basketball, but I got a little studying in, too.
Education has always been very important to our family. After graduating
6th in my class (out of 44) at Tioga High School, I attended the
University of North Dakota where I earned a bachelors and masters degree
in Computer Science. The main reason I ended up getting a masters degree
was because they said I could teach while I was going to school. I've
always loved teaching, especially students who are just starting and
aren't quite sure if they can do it.
After I graduated from UND, I took a teaching position at Stetson
University in DeLand Florida. Quite a change from North Dakota, I don't
think being 25 miles from Daytona Beach was too good for the student's
study habits! After several fun years of teaching, I came to UT to get my
doctorate in Computer Science Education and to find a really great place
to live. Since I finished, I've taught some, worked at a small start-up
company, and done some computer consulting work.
Austin is a great town with something for everyone.
When I'm not working, I like to golf, play volleyball
(or most any sport), play guitar, dance, and sleep.
