Syllabus
- Review of linear algebra operations
- High performance implemention of linear algebra operations on
sequential architectures
- Implementing linear algebra operations using PLAPACK
- Collective communication on message passing architectures
- Analysing parallel linear algebra algorithms
- Further optimizing of parallel linear algebra operations
- Other topics
Programming
This course is structured around a progression of programming
assignments, using the C programming language, and interfacing
with FORTRAN. Students will be split into teams of two.
Each team will be assigned a linear algebra operation to
implement, and will progressively optimize this operation until
extremely high performance is attained on parallel architectures.
Progress will be reported in a webpage, which will satisfy the
writing component of the course.
Homework
There will be homework assignments which will be discussed
in class. Homework will not be graded.
Tests
No tests
Grading
- 50% -- Team project
- 30% -- Final individual project
- 20% -- Class participation
