My last name is pronounced Tekuchi. It's the name of a town in Romania, although my family does not have any connections with that town. I was born in Bucharest, Romania.

After coming to do a PhD in Austin, TX, I lived for about three years in a student housing coop ([what is that?]). It was fun and I did make a lot of friends. I co-founded the Pearl St. United soccer team, UT intramural champions, Fall 2003.

For a while (2002-2004) I was on the Graduate Representative Association for Computer Sciences (GRACS) Executive Committee, the UT CS grad student organization.

More recently, I was one of the organizers of the Forum for Artificial Intelligence, the speaker series for the UTCS AI Lab.

My Erdös number is (at most) 5, through David Israel and (separately) through Ben Kuipers.
