Each pledge needs to contribute a $15 one-time membership fee, as
well as the national organization one-time due of $35 (which includes a
one-year student subscription to the main ACM organization).
Each pledge needs to earn at least 12 points for service. The point
scale and other point requirements can be found below.
Attendance at each UPE general meeting is encouraged. The goal is to
give at least one week's notice before each meeting. If you are unable to
attend, please notify the pledge coordinator of your circumstances before
the meeting.
Each pledge should post a short introductory paragraph to the upe@lists.cc.utexas.edu mailing list. It should mention name, hometown, hobbies, and classes this semester, as well as anything else that other members might find interesting.
Each pledge is expected to read the UPE
Constitution, possibly online from the UPE Homepage.
UPE is a social as well as a service organization. Therefore,
each pledge needs to attend events such as social event and
faculty dinners during the semester.
As you complete each requirement or service point, please
notify the appropriate officer. We will work to keep your records
updated in a timely fashion. We are currently developing a mechanism to
make the latest information about a pledge's status available from the UPE web site.
Meetings:
The goal is for UPE to hold a general meeting approximately every month.
At the general meetings, we will discuss future projects, future talks or
seminars, and the progress of our current activities. Also, the meetings
provide opportunities for interaction among the members and pledges.
As the budget alows, these meetings will include refreshments.
