The goal of the projects is to conduct a detailed
survey in an important research area, as well as to carry out a small research
project on a narrow topic. The research project should explore an interesting
question/hypothesis.
Suggested project areas: Ø Network monitoring Ø Unwanted traffic detection ·
How do viruses and worms spread? Ø Problems with inter-domain routing (BGP) ·
Understanding specification of
routing rules ·
Routing algorithm convergence
issues Ø Routing protocols with rich metrics ·
Scalability and convergence issues Ø Transport protocols for multi-homed networks Ø Architectures for unusual/challenged networks ·
E.g., power-limited nodes
communicating over poorly or unexpectedly-available links Ø Novel Internet architectures ·
Naming, routing, … Timeline (Tentative): Ø Finalize project topic : Ø A literature survey and precise project statement: Ø Class presentation: End of November Ø Final project report: |
