Welcome and Registration Information

Congratulations on being accepted into the First Bytes Summer Camp Program. We are looking forward to welcoming you to campus on Sunday, July 20, 2008 for a week of computer science and technology excitement.

There are not enough women working as computing professionals today, and we are delighted that you will be joining us to learn what computer science is really all about. This week is designed to give you an introduction to some of the important ideas behind modern computing today.

Throughout the week we will learn together through:

• "Great Ideas - Great Applications" presentations by women prominent in the computer science field, both in industry and academia;
• programming and working through the trials and thrill of completing a team project;
• learning the importance of problem solving and reasoning through daily logic games;
• meeting women who have devoted their careers to computer science;
• visiting computer scientists at work;
• and having summer fun, living and learning on a college campus.

This package includes important information on "What to Bring", "Where to Register" and maps of the Jester Housing Center and the Applied Computational and Engineering Sciences Building (ACES).

Registration is on Sunday, July 20, 2008 at the Jester Housing Center from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Family members are welcome to join us for our Welcoming Reception from 1:00-2:30 p.m. before saying good-bye to their camper. Our final Team Project Presentation will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2008 in the ACES Auditorium starting at 9:00 a.m. followed by the Celebration Brunch from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Checkout will begin at Jester at 11:00 a.m.

Remember, if your plans change and you are unable to attend First Bytes Summer Camp, please let us know ASAP. We have a waiting list full of girls who would love to be in your place.
