Good and Bad

I guess I haven't announced to everyone yet, but we got invited to go to internationals for the ACM Programming Competition in Shanghai a while ago. Now that I think about it, I don't think I've told my parents yet. So yes, I'm pretty excited about getting to leave North America for the first time.

And since Nitin doesn't like to brag much, I must declare his triumph in the field of math competition for him. He totally beat out all the other kids to take the first place prize of $200 in a contest last weekend. Everyone should IM him and tell him how awesome he is at math.

However, my calculus final didn't go well at all. I think I put more time into studying than I have for any test in a one week period. I just remember getting the test, going through the problems, and thinking, "Holy crap, most of these problems don't look familiar at all!" I still don't see how a sphere can be perpendicular to a parabaloid at a point. Isn't it perpendicular at every point? I mean it's not a straight line or anything. Ugh. I think I'm staring at a C or even a D now. All hope of a B is lost. And as some of you may know, my teacher doesn't curve at all. He stands by his statement that if people do not pass his tests, they have not shown sufficient mastery of the material to receive a passing grade. So now I'm pretty bummed out.

I'm not even really thinking about Christmas break or all it entails yet.
