Lacking Sleep

Somehow I forgot what should be the Third Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, e^ln(x) = x. As a result, I couldn't integrate a few problems on my 427K Palka midterm. Of course, I'm totally accustomed to taking e and raising it to both sides of an equation when one side is ln(y) to isolate y and solve an equation explicitly, but my mind went blank when seeing e^ln(x) by itself. This does not bode well for my grade.

Furthermore, I got angry at one of the EE316 TA's when she told me that doing almost all of the study guide questions wasn't enough and I "really should do all of the problems." When you fail a readiness test on the first try in that class, (meaning you didn't get every single problem correct) you have to complete the study guide of the unit before taking it again (and note that you have 3 more tries to get a perfect score for the same overall grade). However, these study guides can be extremely long, and I had worked most but not all of the problems. I skipped the questions that seemed excessively lengthy and time consuming.

So I went back and worked some more of the problems when I finally thought, "screw it," and tried to present the assignment for checking, hoping the TA wouldn't look over my work very carefully. As the TA looked over my work, I must have looked disgruntled because she said, "You're mad at me, aren't you?" She pointed out that it looked as though I hadn't completed two of the problems, which I hadn't. But she must have felt guilty because she said, "Oh, nevermind, it looks like you did," and she let me take the test again, which I promptly sped through and passed. I felt bad as well, and I vowed to never fail a unit test again so I never have to fully complete another study guide.

As cartoon Jackie Chan would say, "Bad day."

Man, it's really friggin' cold.

Just a few days ago it was nice and sunny and warm. Now it's cold again, and there's a good chance of rain over the next few days. Two days ago IBM came, but I missed out on getting a free BBQ lunch and possibly other goodies from them because a few certain CS individuals didn't want to wait in line. But later Terry and I checked out Google, and we got a free pen and blinky light pin. They also gave beanies away to everyone, but it's so large that it looks ridiclously silly on me, like a mushroom cap. It's supposed to be adjustable. Hrmm, I don't recall any drawstring on them, though. Terry got really lucky and won a fleece jacket. I'm so jealous. At least the weather is right for him to make good use of it.

Ok, well class time now. Maybe more later.

Comments:
can we make sneaky plans to steal terry's fleece jacket? those are the bestest things to have up here in the north. and i would be the coolest kid on the block with a google fleece jacket.
sWeet.

oops. that was me. lindo.

so yes. thou shalt steal.
